5 Steps To Brewing The Perfect 3 Cup Chemex
An iconic brewer with a timeless design invented in 1941, the Chemex is easy to use and easy on the eyes. The Chemex is housed in the MOMA permanent design collection —it also lives on most of our kitchen counters, too. It brews a clean cup and maintains body and balanced floral notes.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 3 Cup Chemex
- Filters
- 350g of Water, just off the boil (94 to 96 C)
- 21.5g Coarse Ground Coffee
- Weighing Scales
- Timer
- Pouring Kettle
STEP 1
Fold the filter to ensure the thicker side of the filter is facing toward the spout. Rinse the filter thoroughly, then discard the water.
STEP 2
Add your ground coffee to the filter. “Bloom” for 45 seconds using 60g of water. Then, pour 145 g of water into the brewer.
STEP 3
Wait for the water to filter through (Approx 2.30 mins), until you can almost see the coffee bed, then pour another 145g of water in.
STEP 4
Give the mix a slight “whirl” to ensure all the grounds are brewing evenly.
STEP 5
The brew time should be between 3 and 4 minutes.
