Honduras borders the Caribbean Sea on the north coast and the Pacific Ocean on the south through the Gulf of Fonseca. The climate varies from tropical in the lowlands to temperate in the mountains. The Honduran territory consists mainly of mountains. It has all geographic, climatic, geologic and cultural resources to produce great specialty coffee.

SHG (Strictly High Grown) means that coffee is grown at high altitudes. SHG coffees are shade grown, this means that coffee is protected from intense sunlight, wind and wildlife benefits more, especially tropical birds that use the tree tops for their nests. These qualities are important to promote social and environmental responsibility. Honduras is one of the most important origins for Fairtrade Organic. The Cocatral cooperative supports the local school and health center.
