Dimtu washing station is one of the most technologically advanced and modern dry mills in Yirgacheffe. The station has Pinhalense machinery, 150 drying beds, a shaded experiment area, living quarters for temporary laborers and a modern farmhouse for management and visitors. Dimtu’s location also makes it logistically possible to source coffee from Hambella in West Guji. Farmers delivering to Dimtu washing station cultivate coffee at 2,100 to 2,300 meters above sea level. These impressively high altitudes create the ideal conditions for cultivating sweet, dense cherry and processing spectacular coffees.
Ethiopia is referred as the birthplace of coffee since Coffea arabica’s origin goes back to Ethiopia’s Southwestern Highlands and contiguous region of South Sudan.
The flavours of Ethiopian coffees are notably diverse – from citrusy and floral to candied fruits and ripe tropical fruits.
The washed coffees tend to be elegant, complex and delicious. The ones with a natural process can be wildly fruity.
